Since 2009, at just 19 years old, I’ve been immersed in the mortgage industry. I started as a mortgage loan assistant and worked my way up, gaining hands-on experience with virtually every loan type, program, and scenario. Over the years, I’ve built a deep understanding of how to navigate the complexities of home financing, which has allowed me to help clients achieve their goals while delivering the highest level of customer service. My journey has been one of continuous learning, growth, and a commitment to excellence in this ever-evolving industry.
Outside of work, I’m a dedicated family man and an avid golfer. Whether it's spending quality time with my loved ones or out on the golf course, I find balance and motivation in both. Golf, much like the mortgage industry, requires patience, precision, and strategy—qualities that I bring into every client interaction.
My "why" has always been about helping people turn their homeownership dreams into reality. Seeing my clients achieve their financial goals, secure their dream homes, and build lasting wealth through real estate is what drives me every day. Secure Choice Lending provides the perfect platform for me to apply my experience, expertise, and passion to truly make a difference in people’s lives.
My journey into the mortgage industry was anything but conventional. After two unsuccessful entrepreneurial ventures, I was more determined than ever to find success. Leveraging the relationships I had built in my previous businesses, I reconnected with a past client who had recently been promoted to branch manager at a well-known mortgage company. As his first hire after his promotion, I saw this as a pivotal opportunity. Fueled by both a fear of failure and a relentless drive to achieve, I fully committed myself to learning and growing in this field.
Outside of work, I find joy in snowboarding and spending quality time with my family. These moments keep me grounded and remind me why I do what I do.
My passion lies in helping people navigate the homebuying process. There's nothing more rewarding than understanding my clients' unique needs and guiding them toward their dream of homeownership. Beyond that, I’m deeply grateful for a career that not only allows me to make a meaningful impact but also provides for my family—combining purpose and passion in the best possible way.
With a strong passion for sales and business development, transitioning into the mortgage industry was a natural fit. My competitive nature and drive to succeed pushed me to explore a career where hard work translates directly into results. With 11 years of experience in banking and a solid financial background, making the leap into mortgages was seamless, allowing me to leverage my expertise to help clients achieve their homeownership goals.
Outside of work, my world revolves around family. Whether it’s playing hide-and-seek, wrestling with my son, playing house with my daughter, or spending time at the park, I cherish every moment with my wife and kids. Date nights, Netflix marathons, and quality time with my siblings and their families—complete with BBQs, a few beers, and watching sports—are some of the ways I unwind and stay grounded.
At the core of everything I do is my family. They are my motivation, my purpose, and the reason I wake up every morning ready to take on the world. The mortgage industry has given me the opportunity to provide for them while doing something I truly love. Over the past decade, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge and developed a passion for guiding borrowers through the home financing process. I firmly believe that real estate is one of the most powerful tools for building wealth, and I’m committed to helping my clients turn their homeownership dreams into reality.
In 2001, as I was preparing to start my sophomore year of college, I found myself at a crossroads. I had been working as a courtesy clerk at Stater Bros when my mom, a realtor, suggested I get into loans. She saw an opportunity for me to assist her clients while maintaining the flexibility to balance a full college course load. That led me to F2K, a top-tier broker shop and in-house lender for one of the largest real estate firms at the time. At just 19 years old, I was learning from experienced loan officers, absorbing everything I could. I don’t think I fully understood the magnitude of the role at the time, but I loved it. Less than two years later, I was originating loans full-time and, in a roundabout way, the business had chosen me—with a little help from my mom.
Outside of work, family is everything. My wife and I love spending time together and staying involved in our kids' activities. My 6-year-old son plays ice hockey and basketball, and I have the privilege of being an assistant coach for his travel hockey team, getting on the ice with him twice a week. My daughters, 16 and 9, both play basketball and are deeply involved with their horses and rodeos, which have become a big part of our lives. We stay busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re also huge LA Kings fans and have season seats—though we don’t make it to as many games as we’d like. Beyond that, I enjoy working out, traveling (especially to Hawaii), and catching live concerts whenever I can.
My journey in the mortgage industry took a pivotal turn between 2007 and 2008 when I transitioned from originating loans to becoming an Account Executive at Countrywide, the nation's largest lender at the time. Managing over 100 broker accounts gave me an entirely new perspective on the industry. I saw firsthand the difference between great loan originators and those who were doing a disservice to their clients. Too often, borrowers were left in the dark—overcharged, misinformed, or completely denied opportunities they should have had. That’s when I truly understood my purpose in this business. I had the knowledge, the experience, and, most importantly, the drive to do better for people. Being a loan originator is more than just numbers on a page; we help working-class families secure their largest financial asset. We play a part in where they’ll create lifelong memories—where they’ll bring home their baby, host family BBQs, and build their future. It’s not always a business that gets a thank you, but nothing is more rewarding than getting a client into a home when other lenders have told them "no." That’s what drives me every day.
At 23, I was balancing a full-time job and full-time school , but despite my efforts, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do long-term. I had already purchased my second home , but the mortgage process itself was still a mystery to me. My sister-in-law, a manager at a retail mortgage shop , kept encouraging me to give lending a try. She was successful, always traveling, driving nice cars, and seemed to have great insight , so I figured—why not?
When I first started, I could barely spell ‘mortgage,’ but I quickly found myself diving into loan applications, pulling credit, quoting rates, and closing deals. What started as a curiosity soon turned into a passion, and before I knew it, I was fully immersed in the industry.
Outside of work, I’m all about adventure and family. I love flying airplanes, snowboarding with my kids, and restoring classic cars. Traveling with my wife and family is one of my greatest joys—we love exploring new places, trying new foods, and chasing unforgettable experiences together. My “why” goes back to my high school wrestling days. Even though wrestling was an individual sport, it was the team environment that made you better. I trained with some absolute badasses —some of whom went on to college wrestling and even the UFC. I knew I wasn’t going to beat them, but just being around them pushed me to improve. I loved the coaching, the grind, the camaraderie, and seeing my teammates win.
I still feel that same drive today in our industry. We get to help people achieve homeownership, and we get an incredible opportunity to build a career doing it. I’ve found a company that surrounds me with some of the best loan officers in the business, an exceptional operations team, and a leadership structure that fosters growth. My passion now is helping other loan officers and my personal team succeed—not just in production but in life. There’s nothing better than seeing your team win, your clients win, and knowing you played a role in making it happen.
Like many mortgage professionals, I stumbled into this career 20 years ago. During my final semester of college, where I was earning my business degree, a Loan Officer invited me to be her assistant. At the time, all I knew was that I wanted to be an entrepreneur, and mortgage seemed like a lucrative and exciting path. I started at Countrywide before the credit crisis, moved through several mortgage companies, and eventually found my way to Secure Choice Lending in January 2023.
Over the past decade, I’ve immersed myself in coaching—both as a mentor and a student—while continuously striving to stay at the top of my field. Today, I balance my time between mortgage lending and real estate investments. My husband and I recently developed and sold a subdivision, we’re in the process of purchasing our third Airbnb (our second international one), and we’re currently working on our first flip house.
Outside of business, life is full! With three kids, four dogs, and an amazing husband, our days revolve around cheer, dance, and bowling competitions. When we find free time, we love traveling, boating, and golfing.Beyond family and business, I’m deeply passionate about philanthropy. In 2005, after losing my mother to breast cancer, I founded the Gina Quesenberry Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting those affected by the disease. As president, I take great pride in organizing fundraisers and advocating for those in need. Feel free to visit gqfoundation.org to learn more.
For years, I pushed myself to be the best in this industry, constantly striving for more. But in the process, I realized I was missing out on life’s most precious moments with my young kids. In 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and while the journey was incredibly difficult, it ultimately changed my life for the better. It led me to deep introspection and a pursuit of holistic healing.Today, my focus is on building a legacy—one that provides financial security, freedom, and balance. Success isn’t just about numbers; it’s about having the flexibility to travel, be present with my family, and truly enjoy the life we’re creating.
